	Blender This is a professional 3D graphics application. It can be used for modeling, UV unwrapping, texturing, rigging, water simulations, skinning, animating, rendering, particle and other simulations, non-linear editing, compositing, and creating interactive 3D applications. Audio Software
	Audacity Recording Audacity can record live audio through a microphone or mixer, or digitize recordings from cassette tapes, vinyl records, or minidiscs. With some sound cards, it can also capture streaming audio. Record from microphone, line input, or other sources. Dub over existing tracks to create multi-track recordings. Record up to 16 channels at once (requires multi-channel hardware). Level meters can monitor volume levels before, during, and after recording. Import and Export Import sound files, edit them, and combine them with other files or new recordings. Export your recordings in several common file formats. Import and export WAV, AIFF, AU, and Ogg Vorbis files. Import MPEG audio (including MP2 and MP3 files) with libmad. Export MP3s with the optional LAME encoder library. Create WAV or AIFF files suitable for burning to CD. Import and export all file formats supported by libsndfile. Open raw (headerless) audio files using the Import Raw command. 	MP3Gain MP3Gain analyzes and adjusts mp3 files so that they have the same volume. MP3Gain does not just do peak normalization, as many normalizers do. Instead, it does some statistical analysis to determine how loud the file actually sounds to the human ear. Also, the changes MP3Gain makes are completely lossless. There is no quality lost in the change because the program adjusts the mp3 file directly, without decoding and re-encoding.

	TagScan TagScanner is a multifunction program for organizing and managing your music collection. It can edit tags of mostly state-of-the-art audio formats, rename files based on the tag information, generate tag information from filenames, and perform any transformations of the text from tags and filenames. Also you may get album info via online databases like freedb or Amazon. Supports ID3v1, ID3v2, Vorbis comments, APEv2, WindowsMedia and MP4(iTunes) tags. Video Software
	Movica Editing AVI files is easily done through VirtualDub but for .wmv, .flv, .rm and .mpg files the tools are less easily available. Some very good command line tools are available for editing these files viz. AsfBin - Very, very well done editor for Windows media files MpgTx - A tool being developed largely for POSIX apps. Tiny. flvtool - A tool meant largely for metadata management. Not all these programs are open source programs. Only MpgTx and flvtool are open-source tools. [Please bear in mind that you should get a license for AsfBin if you choose to use this for commercial use] If you have Real Producer Basic 11 installed on your computer you may be able to use Movica to edit .rm files. Movica is just a graphical user interface that uses these fine programs to edit movie files. A great deal of emphasis has been placed on keyboard shortcuts to make the job of editing easier. Briefly what you can do is - Select or delete multiple portions from a video file. Copy, paste and fine tune the selections. Join multiple files together Split movies into smaller files Save and play selected scene without editing the movies There has been some interest in editing .wma lossless format. So I have enabled support for .wma files.

	Wax Wax is a high performance and flexible video compositing and special effects software. The idea for Wax is to be very general purpose and flexible in video compositing and effects, so that you can compose your dream video sequence with ease everytime. Wax can create 2D & 3D special effects and can create and use 'presets' which are a chain of plugins with customized parameters to create unique effects. The basic installation of Wax comes with hundreds of presets (500) created by Vassias Loverdos and you can also create your own using Wax. Wax can load and use VirtualDub filters, DirectX plugins, Freeframe plugins and Windows Movie Maker presets inside Wax or Adobe Premiere Elements when using Wax as a plugin. It can also use Photoshop filters and effects created with WinMorph morphing software from the same author.

	VLC Media Player VLC media player is a highly portable multimedia player supporting most audio and video formats (H.264, Ogg, DivX, MKV, TS, MPEG-2, mp3, MPEG-4, aac, ...) from files, physical media (DVDs, VCD, Audio-CD), TV capture cards and many network streaming protocols. It can also convert media files, transcode and act as a streaming server over unicast or multicast and IPv4 or IPv6. It doesn't need any external codec, program or codec packs to work.

Office Software
OpenOffice OpenOffice.org 3.1.1 is a complete suite of applications designed as an alternative to Microsoft Office. All the packages have a similar 'look and feel' making them very easy to use, with common 'learn once use everywhere' tools like the Styles and Formatting. OpenOffice.org takes its 'look and feel' from your computer - if you change your desktop, OpenOffice.org will change to match. The same tools are used consistently across the suite - for example, the tools you use to work with graphics within Writer are also found in Impress and Draw. You don't need to know which application was used to create a particular file - you can 'File Open' any OpenOffice.org file from anywhere and the correct application will be launched. 	Dia (Visio Clone) Dia is a vector-based drawing tool similar to the popular flowcharting package: Visio. 	Arcus - Rubik's Cube Simulator Arcus is a Rubik's Cube Simulator written in Java. Due to Java technology, it can run on a wide range of platforms, including UNIX/Linux, Windows, Mac OS X and many others. Arcus – which is a standalone Java application – has an applet version called Arcus Applet, that can be embedded in a html page providing a nice viewport of a Rubik's Cube. 	Free Colonization The original Colonization was released in 1994 by Microprose. Colonization is heavily based on Civilization which is generally considered to be the best turn-based strategy game for the PC in the history of mankind. In Civilization the objective was to build a nation that could stand the test of times and that could also do one of the following: conquer the world or be the first to launch a spaceship. In Colonization things are bit different ... A Colonization game starts in 1492 and the objective is to colonize America. You begin the game with one vessel and two colonists. As in Civilization you need to build a powerful nation, but fortunately in the early part of the game you'll be able to send ships back to Europe in order to sell the goods you've produced or to bring back some colonists. Getting colonists into the new world is a very important aspect of the game as one game turn takes one year and later on even one season and as a result colonies don't grow as rapidly as they do in Civilization. You can pay colonists to come to the new world or you can show off with the religious freedom of your people in which case they will hop on your vessels for no money at all. Another important aspect is trade: the source of all income (apart from Inca and Aztec gold). In a land filled with precious resources it is important to build your colonies at the right location and to place craftsmen where they belong. This is not only to have an income but also to be able to live off the land when you can no longer count on the support of Europe. Through all this you'll have to decide whether or not you want to live next to the native Americans peacefully. They can teach your colonists new skills that cannot be tought anywhere else and they will offer you goods in case you choose to treat them as your friends. On the other hand, their villages can be attacked and their valuable goods can be taken from them and sold in Europe. Other European forces are also busy occupying their piece of the new world. Should their borders go too far then take over some of their colonies by force because they wouldn't hesitate to do the same thing to you. The object of Colonization is to declare your independence and survive an attack of the King's forces. Before declaring your independence you need to have the majority of the people behind you. This can be done by promoting free speech and by providing a strong governmental system.

	Frets On Fire Frets on Fire is a musical game that challenges your dexterity by having you play guitar music on your computer keyboard. When you begin playing the game you will chose a song. The image of a guitar bridge will appear on the screen in the foreground with the body and neck of the guitar disappearing into the distance. You will see five colored blocks representing different positions on your keyboard. As the notes scroll on the screen, you'll hit the correct key while tapping the "enter" button to play the sound. If you do it correctly the song will sound just like the original; mistakes are greeted by a distorted guitar wail and then silence. The game comes with a few good classic songs and each one has graduated levels of difficulty. After you run through these, you might want to go to the online forum and grab a few tunes made by other players or even share your own creations. You can create your own songs with the built-in song editor, which you'll learn fairly quickly with the entertaining tutorials. If you don't like trial and error, the tutorial's host, Jurgen Guntherswarchzhaffenstrassen, will walk you through the game. Frets on Fire is child-safe and rated "Everyone" but when downloading user-created songs, you should examine them before letting younger children play them. This aural game is a great way to teach music and dexterity to young people or for anyone to just have a good time.
